Route 8 Bridge Project Begins Week of July 23rd

Construction to Begin on Route 8 (William Flynn Highway) Bridge in Richland Township

Construction for the Route 8 (William Flynn Highway) bridge, spanning West Branch Deer Creek in Richland Township, Allegheny County, is scheduled to begin the week of July 23rd.  The bridge is located at the intersection of Route 8 and Route 910.   Construction is expected to begin during the week of July 23 and to be completed in late November.  Due to lane restrictions, please anticipate significant delays and allow for extra travel time.  During this time, an alternating traffic pattern will be controlled by temporary traffic signals.

This will be part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. Replacement of this bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Allegheny County’s structurally deficient bridge list.

In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.  We will post updated information as it becomes available.
