Richland Township has been awarded a $235,000 Automated Red-Light Enforcement (ARLE) grant to install a new traffic signal at the intersection of Route 910 (Gibsonia Road) and Community Center Drive. This investment is part of Pennsylvania’s ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and improve traffic flow in the region.
Richland Township is grateful for the support of State Senator Lindsey Williams, State Representative Jeremy Shaffer, and Governor Josh Shapiro in advocating for this critical infrastructure improvement. Additionally, the Township would like to thank former Township Manager Dean Bastianini and the staff at Trans Associates for their effort on the grant application.
The total estimated cost of the project is $1,323,440 and includes not only the traffic signal installation but also additional roadway improvements. The township plans to widen Community Center Drive to increase vehicle capacity and allow for a designated left-turn lane onto Gibsonia Road. Additionally, the project requires the relocation of an existing water line in the area.
As part of the installation, the project will incorporate signal supports, vehicular signals, pedestrian facilities, detection systems, controller assembly, and communications equipment to coordinate with the existing traffic signal network along Route 8.
In addition to this ARLE grant, Richland Township previously secured $305,000 in state funding through the Gaming Economic Development Tourism Fund (GEDTF), with the support of former State Representative Lori Mizgorski, Senator Lindsey Williams, the Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County (RAAC) and the North Hills Councils of Governments.
